Retailer AkibaFarm going on hiatus

Despite opening their virtual doors for business just a few months ago, Japanese onahole retailer AkibaFarm have announced they’ll be temporarily shutting down next week (from December 23rd) to essentially overhaul the entire website. They expect to relaunch in March 2020.

AkibaFarm states this move is due to their current site having “confusing and inconvenient parts for customers to use”. I assume this is in related to the ordering process, and not that someone perhaps got confused about what an onahole does and tried to put it up their nose.

All orders placed up until December 22nd will still be fulfilled, however AkibaFarm warns that if you’ve got any reward points in your account they’ll need to be used by then or the points will expire.

Not exactly a great start to the business, but here’s hoping they actually do come back! I remember when a site called MyOnahole launched a few years back and then just suddenly vanished into the maintenance void forever.

I’ll keep you guys updated.

  1. I remember when Myonahole shut down, I was pretty disappointed because I really loved the way they were set up, they had a great selection too.
Most of the time I just buy from OtonaJP now but I haven’t bought anything in a while since I don’t even have the private time required to enjoy my onaholes anymore😔

  2. That was quick. There explanation on why they do “maintenance” is pretty weird. Whats it with all those onahole stores opening and closing shortly after

  3. I wonder if they’re going to hire a more experienced translator and redo the categories. I don’t know if the ordering process was good or bad as I didn’t order from them, but given they seem to be trying to reach a wider market than just onahole users, their translations, especially within certain categories (and how those categories are designed and seperated) could definitely be confusing to someone less experienced in navigating this kind of stuff.

Either way, I hope they come back.
